Ballroom Dancing

Details £2 a session. Beginners and all standards welcome. You don't need to bring a partner. Ballroom, Latin, Sequence and Old Time Dancing. We learn from each other at rates to suit all. St Denys church hall, just off Sleaford market place.

Details The group will have a number of visits to birding sites. Some of these will be fairly local and others further afield. There will be a social/planning indoor meetings as well as a summer social. We will also have occasional indoor meetings with talks. The group is primarily aimed at new bird watchers to improve there knowledge and share experiences, you will require some mobility for outdoor locations, otherwise everyone is welcome. Details One session a week for 4 weeks. By this time each member should be able to work on his/her own and not need any more tuition. Pens, paper and ink are provided but you would find an A3 clip-board to lean on and a folder for your work useful additions. 2 sessions a year May (Tuesday afternoons) and November (Thursday mornings). Cost - £10 for the complete 4 session course.

Details An informal group that welcomes card/Canasta players of all abilities. If you've never played before, it is not a difficult game to learn, and you will soon pick it up - and have some fun into the bargain! Come and join us every other Thursday.

Carpet Bowls

Details Short mat bowls takes place in Digby village Hall on the first and third Thursday of the month. Plenty of parking at the rear of the hall. We usually have 2 mats and play in teams of 2 to six with a tea break at half time. We play for fun and exercise but do keep score as a means of improving our game.

Details We go to 2 different churches every month and look at Church architecture, have a talk about the Church's history and also the village; church wardens usually do the talk. We have lunch at a local pub.

Details This course is aimed at building strength and confidence for U3A members starting very slowly and building up to a 5k effort. The U3A members will form part of a non U3A session and will last 7 consecutive weeks. The cost is £10 for the course and finishers will receive a tee shirt to Mark their achievement

Creative Crafts

Details This group is aimed at Crafts people at all levels, some having little or no knowledge or skills and some experienced in particular crafts who are keen to share what they know. We are a small group of like -minded folk all keen to try and learn something new.

Digital Reading Group

Details We meet via Zoom. As Lincolnshire libraries have insufficient digital copies of a specific book we purchase books from Amazon for 99p or less and read via the Kindle App which is available for all platforms (ipad, laptop, phone, tablet PC). Each member selects 2 books, sends the details to the group leader who during the meeting randomly selects a book.

Discussion - Philosophy

Details This group is a forum for philosophical discussions. These may be on aspects of theoretical or practical philosophy on particular philosophers (living or dead), on topics or themes from the history of philosophy, or on the application of philosophical thinking to everyday problems. Discussions are lead by group members on topics of particular interest to them. The present meeting places (members homes) are not all wheelchair accessible. If this should prove in the future to be a problem, we will review our options and find locations accessible to all members.

Early Music

Details The Early Music Group plays music of ancient: Greece, Rome and Byzantium from about 500 BC and European music and music of the European Diaspora from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Periods up to around 1809 using all forms of audio visual reproduction.

Family History

Details The aim is for this to be an activity-based, guided, mutual-help group for those embarking upon or already undertaking their personal family history research. In order to gain maximum benefit from our activities, members will need to have access to a personal computer with Internet connectivity. It will also be useful (but not essential) for them to subscribe, at their own expense, to one of the major genealogy databases (e.g. Ancestry or Find My Past). The group will meet monthly for an hour or two in Sleaford. The precise time and venue is still to be decided, as it is dependent upon the size of the group and the personal calendars of members and of the group leader.

French Conversation

Gourmet Group

Details This is a relaxed group of people who enjoy cooking and trying new dishes. Each member cooks a dish according to a theme which when put together makes a delicious lunch for the group to share. You don't have to be a brilliant cook but members are asked to cook from scratch and not use ready-prepared dishes. Then to share the recipe with the group.

History Discussion

Microfiction Writing

Details The play reading group meets in Sleaford on the second Friday in the month at 2pm. We aim to read through a complete play in each session, with a break for tea and biscuits. Scripts are provided through the Library service and we try to attempt as wide a range of plays as possible. We do have room for one or two new members, but as we meet in someone's living room numbers are limited. If you fancy joining us for an entertaining and often amusing couple of hours once a month. At the moment we have our maximum number of members. Sorry!

Group member's pay 50p a meeting to cover the annual library reading group subscription. Unfortunately, due to lack of space , this venue is not suitable for wheelchairs

Travel & Holiday

Details This group aims to offer a coach holiday each Spring. So far all trips have been in the UK and have included a full programme of visits and guided tours. Admission fees are included in the cost which is kept as low as is compatible with good standards of accommodation. It is a priority to find accommodation which provides single rooms for about half the party with little surcharge, although this is not always possible.

Details Sleaford U3A Ukulele Group, we welcome new and experienced Ukulele players, easy relaxed venue to make music and have fun. Ideally bring your own instrument, but they can be borrowed. Beginners will be helped and advised. There is Wheel chair access at the Cricket club. Every 2nd Thursday of the month we meet at St Denys Hall 10.30 to 12.30 as the Cricket Club is not available.
